Skin-Beautifying Properties

Adlay Millet (Hatomugi) seed are an abundant source of a fatty acid compound called Coixenolide. This unique ingredients acts to moderate skin's melanin production and diminish blemishes and spots.

Hatomugi (Job's Tears)

The seeds are mineral-rich in calcium, phosphorus and iron, and have notable content of thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2) and niacin (vitamin B3).

Hatomugi Cha is also consumed for eliminating unnatural cell growth such as in warts and tumors.

Adlay seed extracts are widely used in skin cosmetics and sold as supplements.

How to Brew Hatomugi Cha (Adlay Millet Tea)

Japanese Senjiru Method

For lightening and improving complexion and getting rid of freckles and spots.Senjiru is a time-tested Japanese method for brewing herbal teas.

The basic steps are rapid boil, followed by simmer and then a cool-down period.

  • Add 1 rounded tablespoon to 2 cups of water.
  • Heat to a full, rolling boil. 
  • Turn heat down. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Turn heat off and wait for 10 minutes.
  • Strain and serve hot, chilled or over ice.

    To start this off, I haven't finished the bag. Just this week, i've been able to consume this tea regularly. So, i'm not a hundred percent sure that I can see a difference in my skin, with this alone. That could change in a month of regular consumption though!

    Inner affects? I'm not feeling bloated. Especially during the mooncycle, this time around! It seems to work, in conjunction with black sugar tea. No cramps!

    Taste: Popcorn and sweet grass. With an overall midtone of nutty tang in the back of the mouth.

    Aroma: Roasted grass for me. Which is nice!
    And the seeds taste a bit like maple!

    When I drink this, it feels cleansing and soothing, calming. It has a slight sweetness with an herbal woody aroma and delicate flavor. As everything else from here, the experience is fully enjoyable and I look forward to trying more! Gentle is how I'd describe this. I'm very happy to have tried this and finished so quickly! Will be back! <3 :)
