Discover the luxurious feel of hand-polished and powdered Japanese pure Akoya nacre pearl powder, also called Akoya mother of pearl.
For beautifying, lightening and rejuvenating skin the natural way.
Helps skin rebuild its natural collagen, hydrates and increases skin's barrier action for retaining moisture. Deeper luster and iridescence than most other freshwater or saltwater pearl powders.
Suitable for all skin types and colors. Package includes instructions and convenient scoop spatula.
Mix with your cleanser, moisturizer, liquid or powder cosmetics. Prepare a facial mask, or use as subtle highlighter or translucent setting / finish powder. Soft glow and elegant shimmer which is not over-the-top.
Helps you avoid chemically-altered "pearl" used in many skin care, hair care and other beauty products.
Our pearl powder is 100% natural and free of chemicals, additive and preservatives.
Many products contain "Hydrolyzed" pearl as an ingredient, also called Hydrolyzed conchiolin. This ingredient is commonly made by using Hydrochloric acid (HCl) to break down pearl's protein (to make it water soluble) and then adding preservatives such as Phenoxyethanol warned by FDA as toxic.
Avoid harmful chemicals by mixing our natural powder with your own cosmetics instead.
Mix a small amount with your favorite cosmetic. Apply to face, neck, hands or body as you wish. If using with soap or cleanser, wash and rinse as normal.
One or two scoops with the provided spatula is sufficient for most applications. One scoop of powder weighs about 0.1 grams.
Pearl powder mixes well with almost all powders, oils and other common mask ingredients. Below is a sample recipe.
If you are using multiple products for your makeup, pearl powder can serve as a three-in-one alternative for a soft focus, natural look.
Our pearl powder is so fine that it goes on translucent. Brush on a small amount over foundation as setting powder, or over makeup as a finish powder to subtly blur fine lines and control oil and shine.
Or, apply a little more powder with a highlighter brush (or Q-tip) to use as a subtle highlighter.
Almost all of Japan's Akoyas come from three seaside bays: Ago bay (in Mie), Omura bay (in Nagasaki) and Uwajima bay in Ehime prefecture, where we get our supplies.
Uwajima bay is a pristine body of water in southern Shikoku, the smallest of Japanese main islands, covering approximately 30 square kilometers.
South Shikokou is an ecologically important area, with vast stretches of uninhabited coastline from Uwajima bay in the west to the imposing cliffs of Cape Ashizuri all the way to the Shimanto coast in the east.
Facing Umajima bay is historic Uwajima town. It has a population 77,400 (2015) who for centuries have cared for the bay and depend on its bounty of Akoyas and fishery resources for their livelihood.
Akoya, known as akoya-gai in Japanese, is a saltwater pearl oyster scientifically called Pinctada fucata martensii. It has been cultivated in Japan for over 100 years and is prized worldwide for its nacre's elegance.
Akoyas are rare, mainly because they are sensitive to pollutants and other environmental factors. Akoyas from Japan account for less than 2% of the world market.
Nacre (pronounced neikər) is the inner layer of the shell and the outer coating of the pearl itself. Pearl's skin-beautifying and nourishing properties are all about its Nacre.
Akoya's nacre is a fine crystal layer of minerals and amino acids.
94% of content of our Akoya nacre powder is minerals such calcium in the form of calcium carbonate crystals (CaCO3) plus magnesium and iron.
5% of the rest is Conchiolin, a complex protein of 17 amino acids which bond the calcium carbonate crystals together. About 1% is pure water.
It is a well-known fact to gemologists that nacre of Japanese Akoya has deeper luster and iridescence compared to other kinds.
This is due to Akoya nacre crystals' flatter and more organized microstructure than other varieties.
As a result, Akoya nacre produces a finer quality powder with a refined luster and subtle hues.

I highly recommend this powder mixed with the Bijin oil(they blend together perfectly, seem to be created for each other). This mixture soaks in instantly, leaving the skin soft and moreover very compact. In short time I have treated my thin and flabby skin on the neck . It does a remarkable “boosting” action, great support to the oil itself.
Very very valuable combination.

I love this product. This website educated me on the natural orgin of pearl essence and the minerals in it. I use it with my Bijin oil on my face and neck. Its thick consistency protects my skin and I feel a difference after the first use. I continue to use this wonderful product twice a day with no need for makeup (I like the natural look, hyperpigmentation and all). The Nuka I use to cleanse and the Bijin oil both seem to soften the hyperpigmentation so it looks nice not garish.
The soft diffusing properties of the nacre is aesthetically pleasing too.
Thanks for a great product! I'll keep all three products stocked for my optimal skincare.

This does NOT need to be avoided o the eye contour area as most of the face masks - actually is VERY RECCOMENDED for the little lines/wrinkles around the eyes, as for the few times I have applied it, they already have visibly diminished. Only before spreading, make sure it is not too warm as temperature for that delicate area.

I would like to share an AMAZING and super simple face mask I figured out with this pearl powder. The other ingredient is Carragheenan (lat. "chondrus crispus" - a seaweed) powder. Take of it 2,5g and add 0.3-0.5g pearl powder - mix them well together. Then slowly pour this mixture into 40ml very warm( (distilled is better) water while stirring it vividly(the water) with a mini electric twister (or something similar - to avoid lumps). Let it cool down some minute, the carragheen will form a good jelly texture. Spread on face and neck & keep on for 15-20 mins. Then rinse off well, and done! Great results for a glowing and silky skin, just with these 2 ingredients!!

Very versatile product. Basically it softens the shin, smoothens the texture. And this powder has also a slight mattifying effect, so it’s great in combination with pure oils to balance some shiny effect. In addition to other moisturizers, seem to ‘fix’ and absorb it better.

This is a very lovely pearl powder! I’ve been using it for a few days now and really like the effect it is having on my skin. It seems to create a beautiful natural glow that appears as if it is coming from the inside of my skin. It also arrived very quickly and was packaged with great care - I even love the little pouch in comes in and the spatula is very helpful for measuring. The fact that this is an all-natural product with no additives, preservatives, etc. is why I’m such a big fan of Wawaza and their commitment to creating high quality products. The customer service is also the best. Very happy customer - will definitely be back - Arigatou!
