All-around traditional Japanese comb for gentle everyday grooming. Glides through hair with balanced control and broad coverage in each pass.
Handcrafted from aged tsuge boxwood, this Tokigushi comb is made in the Ara-ba style, characterized by moderately spaced teeth.
- ❤ All-around comb for everyday grooming
- ❤ Broad coverage with each pass
- ❤ Traditional Ara-ba style
Seamless, polished teeth move gently through hair without generating static or snagging, helping reduce frizz, prevent damage, and bring out your hair’s natural shine.

Gently curved spine for comfortable, balanced control at a variety of combing angles.
If you use Camellia oil, this comb helps distribute it more evenly, allowing you to achieve better coverage while using less.
❤ Bring Out Hair's Natural Beauty
Tsuge (boxwood) is a super-dense, fine-grained hardwood containing countless microscopic pores.
As you comb, these tiny pores help distribute your hair's natural oils in thin, even layers, bringing out its natural gloss and helping hair look smoother and healthier.
❤ Reduce Frizz
Unlike plastic combs, tsuge does not generate static electricity during use. It works with your hair rather than against it.
❤ Prevent Damage
Unlike molded plastic combs, hand-polished teeth have no rough seam lines that can catch hair and cause breakage or split ends.

About Tokigushi Combs
A Tokigushi is the traditional Japanese comb for everyday grooming. Toki, from the verb toku, refers to combing or untangling; gushi, or kushi, means comb.
Tokigushi combs are traditionally made from tsuge, or boxwood, a slow-growing, exceptionally dense hardwood prized for its fine grain and ability to take a high polish.
To make a comb, wood is harvested from mature tsuge trees, then cleaned, smoked, and slowly dried. The smoking process strengthens the wood, helps protect it from insects, and gives the comb its subtle smoky scent.
After drying, only the finest pieces are selected for handcrafting through multiple stages of shaping, cutting, polishing, and treating with camellia oil.
How to Care for Your Comb
Tsuge combs perform best when occasionally cleaned with camellia oil. Over time, they become smoother and more polished, while the wood develops a deeper, richer color.
Use a soft toothbrush and a few drops of camellia oil to clean your comb. Wipe with a soft cloth.- Store your comb in its pouch, purse, or vanity drawer as you would any fine personal accessory.
Every comb comes with a 5 ml bottle of our wildcrafted camellia oil.

Excellent comb and customer service from WAWAZA
This comb works extremely well with fine hair. The WAWAZA combs and brushes are all excellent at managing static and stimulating the scalp while also redistributing hair sebum. I highly recommend any of the hair products from WAWAZA. Also, I cannot speak highly enough of their customer service. Over the years I've been a customer, WAWAZA consistently maintains very high standards for customer service from purchasing items to shipping orders efficiently and with great care.

Comb 98mm
I use this comb now everyday to avoid breaking more of my hair as the comb’s teeth are spaced wider apart than my old plastic comb.

Japanese Tsuge Comb
I Purchased this Item as a 60th Birthday gift for my sister. She was very pleased with it and in particular liked how easy it makes combing tangles and helping condition her hair with the oil provided. The product was delivered directly from Japan and was packaged exceptionally well with the added touch of an origami bird. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone considering a special purchase.

Happiness In A Comb!
So, if you have found yourself on the Wawaza website, you intuitively know you have arrived at a special place. Of course this lovely comb is functional, of high quality and would work for a variety of hair textures. However, if you spend any time here, you understand that it is more about the EXPERIENCE behind using a handcrafted product from Wawaza and adding it to your daily ritual. wonderful Tsuge, never without anymore
beautiful, beautiful comb... from the gorgeous smooth Tsuge, incredibly even, so pleasant, my hair just loves every touch of it. absolutely does not rip out a hair, on this aspect I have noticed a universe of difference between Tsuge products and the normal plastic combs, who be it more or less but somehow always end up full of killed hair. perfectly sized for the hand, it feels very comfortable because the higher part grows gradually thicker than the tips of the teeth. comes with the 5ml Camellia oil and a very fine silk storage pocket, where is well protected also for transport.

Lovely and good for hair
Love this comb. I have very thick, wavy hair and this size comb works great. I took a break from my normal styling products to try using just this comb plus camellia oil, and my usually dry/frizzy hair is looking the shiniest and healthiest it has ever been. I also notice that way less hair falls out when I use this comb as opposed to a plastic one. Plus, it feels great on my scalp.
