About Kimono Silk and Scallop Shells
Japanese women have always used scraps of silk left over from the sewing kimonos to buff and polish skin.
Natural silk is one of the strongest yet smoothest fibers. It mostly consists of proteins called sericin and fibroin, which closely match the chemical structure of human skin.
Scallop shell powder is made from discarded shells of scallops. It is a natural disinfectant which has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
I have two of these fun sponges. I can't really speak about how they perform just yet , because I am enjoying them as little works of art in my bathroom. What an interesting use of kimono fabric! If and when I incorporate one into my bathing routine, that will be a different experience with a different review!
I was so excited to try this traditional Japanese skincare tool and I am so glad I did! After one use my skin was glowing! It is so gentle and pleasant on the skin and the patterned design is gorgeous and unique. Using this is a game changer and I cannot wait to see the lasting effects with consistent use! Worth its weight in gold!
I bought this sponge around May and have been blown away ever since. My skin feels so clean but not squeaky clean (not ripping away oils on my skin)! And my dead skin cells are scrubbed away without my skin feeling raw. I have been able to use the sponge on my arms, my legs, my neck, and my back. I used to have acne on my back for years but now, thanks to this sponge, it's all completely gone!!! I feel confident enough to wear backless dresses!!! Arigatou gozaimasu, Wawaza! <3 . I cannot thank you all enough :')
Excellent to even the skin texture while removing the old cells layer. After the lathering with Wawaza cotton cloth I buff it over all body only with water, and wow……. the “snake skin effect” is immediate.... the old cells roll off just magically, while the silk fabric stays tender to the skin, in difference of the usual synthetic scrub tools & gloves (I cover this aspect of the extreme tenderness also in my other review on Wawaza Cotton wash cloth)
The skin after the bath done this ways looks very neat, rejuvenated, the pores are completely free.
How true is the fact that “cleansing away the useless” is the basics of any beauty treatment!
Received a small version as a gift with order (domo arigato Wawaza) and I just love it. Lightly buff face and makeup glides on as smooth as silk. I admit I tried the use it like a scrubber and quickly learned that was wrong. Just a light touch, little to no pressure does the trick and don't stay in one position too long. I notice just how smooth my skin looks each time I use this WOW I've tried nothing like it. Love it so much I'm ordering the large one when I refill my rice bran oil and various orders of tea. So glad WAWAZA ships overseas - thank you for sharing such wonderful products.
