About Funori
Seaweed is the general term for many species of marine algae. We make our Funori from three important Japanese seaweeds, and nothing else:
- Fukuro-Funori, also known as jelly moss (Gloiopeltis furcata)
- Ma-Kombu, the edible kombu (Saccharina japonica)
- Mekabu, the nutrient-rich roots of Wakame seaweed (Undaria pinnatifida)
These seaweeds are notable for their calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin K, iodine, and a polysaccharide called fucoidan.
Funori is an abundant source of iodine. Iodine deficiency can contribute to thyroid irregularities associated with dry hair, thinning, poor hair growth, and hair loss.
Funori is also known to reduce hair loss and promote new growth in some individuals. Fucoidan, a polysaccharide found in Funori, has demonstrated the ability to alleviate dryness and promote a healthy hair growth cycle.

How to Use
Cleanse and Condition the Japanese Traditional Way
Prepare the Mixture: Add 1 teaspoon of Funori to 1 cup of hot water in a small container and mix well. A squeeze bottle works well. Use your own or buy one here.
- Rinse hair with lukewarm water.
- Apply Funori. Massage gently onto scalp with fingertips.
- Cleanse hair with straight strokes. Don’t use circular motions, which can tangle your hair.
- Rinse well.

Deep Treatment
Prepare the mixture as described above, using a little less than half as much water. This makes the mixture slightly more gel-like, so it will not drip down your neckline.
- Wash hair as normal without using the mixture.
- Towel dry.
- Apply mixture.
- Cover hair with a cap for 15–20 minutes.
- Rinse well.
Mix with Your Favorite Shampoo
If you like foam and lather, or if you have a favorite shampoo you like to use, you can add the benefits of Funori to your shampoo:
- Prepare the mixture as described above.
- Add 2–3 teaspoons of shampoo and mix well.
- Wash and rinse hair as usual.

Worth the money!
A very good product. Less hairfall in the shower. No tangles (usually my hair tangles a lot even after conditioner). Hair is also visibly darker (hair damaged due to too much chlorine frm swimming). Purchased the hair and body oil too and felt the difference right from the 1st application. Will definitely come back for more. Arigato Wawaza!

Wow what a marvelous product!
I received a trial size packet of the Funori along with my last order and was extremely impressed with the results on my hair. Not only did it make my hair soft and tangle free after washing, but it also gave it a beautiful sheen and there was a reduction in dryness of my scalp. Before using Funori my scalp was dry and flaky with dandruff. Now that I have used it, the flakes are gone! Wawaza this is great! Thank you Wawaza for sending me this product! ^_^ I didn't really take care of my hair but as you know, since I bought Aya Camellia Oil my mind has changed and now hair is one of my beauty priorities XD I mix this product with a little shampoo (because I simply love lathers lol), but just very little so the most benefit from Funori is still there. AND YEAHHHH!!! Now I got shiny, moisturized hair! Most of all, no more hairfall! This product is a perfect match with Aya oil (which I've been using for 2 months)! I highly recommend you to buy Funori along with Aya because they're simply a match from heaven! I think they are the best hair products especially if you have dry and damaged hair like mine. My New Hair-care Staple

Simply Awesome
Love it! I have been using seaweed for some time now and would recommend it to everyone. I'm so glad I found someone who can ship to the midwestern US. Funori is impossible to find locally. I have very fine hair but it leaves it feeling clean and with great volume. I usually don't even have to use styling products when I use this wash. Just make sure to rinse really well.
