Matcha shio is an umami-rich Japanese traditional seasoning. It has a clean, sophisticated taste and aroma and adds a natural, vivid green color to foods. Plus, it cuts down in your salt intake.
Use matcha shio as sprinkle seasoning on vegetables, seafood, chicken, steaks, eggs or anything else you like. You can also use it as a rub for poultry, fish, and meats.
Making matcha shio is about as simple as it gets. Mix some in advance and keep it on-hand.
- Two teaspoon salt (preferably coarse)
- 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
- Mix well in a small bowl
- Use as needed and store the remainder in a shaker
