Camellia oil for beauty application must be free of chemicals and must contain the fullest possible amount of its natural anti-oxidants and nutrients.
Cold pressing, a labor-intensive mechanical process, ensures that the maximum possible amount of oil's character and nutritional content are preserved.
Cold pressing yields only about 20-30% of the seeds available oil. This is the reason for the relatively higher cost (and lower availability) of cold pressed high quality Camellia oil.
While Europe has rigorous standards in place for the terminology of cold pressing, similar phrases such as "cold filtered" have been used erroneously, especially in the U.S.. and Australia, often employed as a marketing technique. "Cold filtered" oils are not necessarily cold pressed. They could very well have been processed at high heat and using chemicals, and then filtered after being cooled.
Unrefined oils are ones that have not been subjected to high heat or chemicals for controlling color and scent. They maintain the maximum amount of oil's original character, and are untainted by chemicals.
Large manufacturers need to control the batch-to-batch differences in their supply chain to make the final product uniform. They employ various "refining" techniques for this purpose.
Refining allows control of color and scent of oil by using combination of chemical, filtration or heat processing.
Refined oils are less expensive to produce, since the process makes it possible to make the final product always uniform and look and feel the same, regardless of using different grade oils.
Refined oils lose important nutrients and antioxidants in the process. Depending on the type of the refining process, there is also the possibility that trace amount of chemicals remain in the finished oil.
Aya™ Japanese Camellia Hair and Body Oil is extracted by cold pressing in manual presses, without employing the use of heat, Hexane, alcohol or chemical refining.

I bought camellia oil from another company and I was satisfied with it. Then, WAWAZA sent a sample of their camellia oil, and man, night and day! While the other company's is cheaper and more accessible, I could tell the difference in quality compared to this. WAWAZA's sample had a beautiful golden color that the other one didn't and it absorbed faster and just left a glow in my skin and a shine in my hair that the other one didn't fully give. I don't mind paying more for quality and WAWAZA's products have yet to disappoint in this area!

I was scared at first to use too much oil even though it's non-comedogenic, but it does penetrate quickly into the skin without irritating like some oils may. I like to use 2 pumps and spread on palms with a little water, then pat all over the face. Then after a few minutes I use a regular, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
For me this oil comes as an addition do my moisturizing regimen since I have very dry skin.

This was a wonderful way for me to try this oil and I'm hooked! My mother has since bought me the large bottle and I shall leave a more thorough review there.
Otherwise: I owe so much to the generosity and Kindness from Yuri. Sending my Love. You are amazing. I've been very sick from complicated circumstances and products that make a difference, people full of compassion, and such peaceful happiness like you and your company exude, these are things SO RARE to find. I'm in tears for being so full of gratitude! The love you put into my order, the care you took packaging everything so beautifully and safe, your generosity.. I'm beyond humbled.<-- From my email to them when I could not make it here to review.. I cannot recommend this site more highly! Anyone can tell they hold what is most important, "ki," in everything they do and offer. Receiving a package is like receiving a breath of calm happiness. Truly I feel blessed by Wawaza. I encourage all to experience this nurturing company and their carefully selected products. Best quality!
