Camellia oil for beauty application must be free of chemicals and must contain the fullest possible amount of its natural anti-oxidants and nutrients.
Cold pressing, a labor-intensive mechanical process, ensures that the maximum possible amount of oil's character and nutritional content are preserved.
Cold pressing yields only about 20-30% of the seeds available oil. This is the reason for the relatively higher cost (and lower availability) of cold pressed high quality Camellia oil.
While Europe has rigorous standards in place for the terminology of cold pressing, similar phrases such as "cold filtered" have been used erroneously, especially in the U.S.. and Australia, often employed as a marketing technique. "Cold filtered" oils are not necessarily cold pressed. They could very well have been processed at high heat and using chemicals, and then filtered after being cooled.
Unrefined oils are ones that have not been subjected to high heat or chemicals for controlling color and scent. They maintain the maximum amount of oil's original character, and are untainted by chemicals.
Large manufacturers need to control the batch-to-batch differences in their supply chain to make the final product uniform. They employ various "refining" techniques for this purpose.
Refining allows control of color and scent of oil by using combination of chemical, filtration or heat processing.
Refined oils are less expensive to produce, since the process makes it possible to make the final product always uniform and look and feel the same, regardless of using different grade oils.
Refined oils lose important nutrients and antioxidants in the process. Depending on the type of the refining process, there is also the possibility that trace amount of chemicals remain in the finished oil.
Aya™ Japanese Camellia Hair and Body Oil is extracted by cold pressing in manual presses, without employing the use of heat, Hexane, alcohol or chemical refining.

On hair I mix 2 drops with the pure aloe vera juice gel that I use for styling. Can see great result, it makes the hair more soft and shiny. And I tryed this oil also on my face, (1 drop, always with the aloe vera gel as a moisturizer and carrier), can say my skin absorbes it very well without becoming greasy. Compared to the Rice Bran oil, this seem to be a bit 'lighter', so you can choose between the 2 of which body area needs more or less hydration.Thank you WAWAZA for this precious sample :)!!

This is an A+ product. First Wawaza.
*Wawaza is one of the best vendors I've encountered.
*Wawaza takes pride in their product, from the quality to how well and detailed their packaging is.
*A+ vendor in my book.
Now a bit from my personal experience using Camellia Oil. I just learned about Camellia oil and this my first time using it. I use camellia for hair, face and body. It is not greasy, but rather hydrating and leaves the skin with a smoothness that is hard to describe.
1.My skin has never been so smooth, remarkable.
2.My complexion has improved immensely.
3.My face looks healthy, no more dry skin.
4.I use Camellia oil on my feet as well. It is tolerable to use on the feet everyday because like I mentioned earlier, Camellia Oil is not greasy. Camellia helped me achieve a unique balance on my feet, not dry nor sweaty. It is actually pleasurable to touch the area of the body that Camellia is applied to.
I by no means call myself an expert, and I can only speak from a personal experience of about one month of using Camellia Oil from Wawaza.
Cheers from San Jose California.

I am so happy that I found out about Wawaza! From how quickly my packages arrived (it came exactly on the 7th day both times I have purchased products) to how beautifully and carefully it was packaged. I could feel the love from Wawaza in all the details, from the complimentary gifts to how they make the tape easy to peel off and more. It brings me so much joy whenever I get to unpack the boxes.
Anyway onto Aya tsubaki oil! I used to use Shea butter on my face but it would always make my skin look very greasy and it felt uncomfortable on my face. Now since I've switched to Aya my skin has gotten much better. It is very lightweight and absorbs quickly. Afterwards my skin does not feel tight and dry. I also put it on my lips and they do a much better job now at staying moisturized so now I don't have to reach for the Chapstick as often. I really want to use it to do a hair pack but I am too nervous to use my precious oil. Ha-ha. I do like to use it to comb into my hair so it looks nice and healthy!
Thank you Wawaza!!

Squirt a few pumps directly onto my scalp and massage in and work through my dreads. I cannot tell you how much of a difference my hair and scalp feels! The nasty itch that one gets when the seasons change is now a thing of the past and coupled with Funori, my hair is just superb!
For my skin, I mix it with the Bijin and work it in and I use it by itself for my lips. It has a slight nutty scent and flavour, which I enjoy.
All around, an amazing moisturizer!

I'm very late reviewing so I'm including part of an email I sent to immediately share my humble gratitude: You are amazing. I've been very sick from complicated circumstances and products that make a difference, people full of compassion, and such peaceful happiness like you and your company exude, these are things SO RARE to find. I'm in tears for being so full of gratitude! The love you put into my order, the care you took packaging everything so beautifully and safe, your generosity.. I'm beyond humbled.
So my body has complications. One is that I dehydrate rapidly and I eat and drink well! It's due to a hospitalization caused from Doctor neglect. It has made my once resilient skin just rub right off, so dry and everything I try I have no permanent results or comfort. They don't absorb. Enter this miracle oil! Camellia oil is a precious sacred oil and the flowers are quite symbolic. If you can take all that meaning and culture and turn it into efficacy.. Thst is how much this is curing me!!! This absorbs immediately while leaving a plush velvety feel, something so rare for me! I do need to reapply here and there, but NO oil or anything else has been so kind to me! Wawaza has only the most pure and joyful products! The positive heart is felt when I use them and it makes me smile to be a part of such a beautiful tradition! Not only is this my skin savior, it's my hair savior. I use much more than any average person, I'm sure, many many pumps. It feeds my scalp as my skin and my body loves it! My hair is so soft, stronger, and my scalp is given a beneficial hydration that feels very clean and blessed. I'm beyond happy! :) I did, at first, purchase the smaller size to try, as I was getting funori to help my mom, and that is how I met Yuri online. Her care, her heart, all is so beautiful with an auspicious grace which touched my heart! Not many people are so compassionate and honestly care for their customers. My mom saw the benefit and how quickly I was going through the bottle and did me the favor to buy this size for me! :) My skin craves it, has zero adverse reactions, and again the purity is premium! When experiencing any product from this site, tea, incenses, hair/body care, Wawaza invites you into a world of floral tape with gentle colors and carefully packaged items that are as pleasing to the eye as they are for their intended purpose. Wawaza is giving us the sacred experience of a beautiful culture. That is priceless. I appreciate it so much! Oh, and the extras! Such sweetness awaits in gifts they provide to thank US.. when WE are without words in awe of an act that has become unfamiliar in a terror stricken world. These extra steps are a gift! Thank you for taking the time, each package has touched my heart and made me feel the loving energy you share.
The aroma is slight herbal and quickly dissipates while the oil cradles you in the best care! I cannot recommend this enough! Thank you, Wawaza!

I am based in Cape Town South Africa. I must say the best service and free gifts (good surprise). Only used for 3 days and my skin is younger and not dry at all. No product equates this in the African sun. I don't need anything else to moisturize my skin. Dry patches are diminishing. Travelling soon and would love to see the reactions moving from one country to the next as I always have issues with my skin. My hair is awesome, super star product.

The Camelia oil from WAWAZA is very pleasant. It has a nutty smell, which reminds a bit of walnuts or hazelnuts. It easily and quickly absorbs into the skin.
I was a bit skeptical at first at how fast I would have finished it already, but the oil is quite long-lasting, even if used as daily moisturizer and monthly treatment for my hair.
I can best observe the effectiveness of the Camelia oil on my nails, which look healthy & strong and my hair, which is very soft after using the oil.

Hi, i just receive my products and tested the oil right away. The smell is really nice and soft and it is non greasy like other oil.
Can't wait to see the results in few days.
The shipping was fast and well packed.

I received the oil last week and have only used it a few times, but I love it already. I tried it on my hair after washing and it made a difference--shiny and nourished but not oily. I had tried the Camellia Sinensis seed oil from another company, but I think this oil (Camellia Japonica (Tsubaki)) is even better. Over the years I have experimented with different types of oils, but so far this is my absolute favorite. It is also great on nails. Wawaza enclosed a sample of the Azuki Bean Micro Grain Facial Scrub and after just one try I am sold! I will buy a bottle. Thank you!!

I received this gift sample in my order today and used 2 drops to my freshly washed chin length hair. I like that it feels rich and creamy and yet it doesn't feel oily. My hair loves it and so do I. Thank you, Wawaza for introducing me to this lovely product. Will definitely purchase it in my next order.

I had a sample and so far I like it. I like how my skin feels moisturize but not greasy like some lotion/oils do. and I stayed moisturized for the whole day.

I use this oil for my hair and noticed that my frizz gets controlled right away and after adding to the tips of my hair I noticed that after 2 months atleast the ends of my hair are kept from splitting. I have noticed that my scalp is lot more tolerable than before.

Amazing!! I'm 58 years old. My gray hair is much less noticeable and much more manageable. After reading the reviews, I started using this camellia oil for my body too. My heels, especially, are much much smoother than before. I do not know what is the secret about WAWAZA camellia oil, it really works. When I travel, I never forget to take this oil with me. Thank you WAWAZA!

My mother-in-law is 79 years old and her skin looks amazing for her age. Her secret is Camellia oil applied everyday. For a while she could no longer find it in Vancouver so I did some research and found Wawaza online. Now I too am using this oil for my face and also on my hair. It quickly absorbs into the skin and is not greasy. This product improves the texture of my coarse hair and a little goes a long way.
Wawaza has the best customer service, always prompt, friendly and helpful. They set the bar very high and I look forward to re-ordering with them again.

I know I had left a review for Aya, but I just recently knew that Aya works for old people too! *shocked*
Recently I gave a bottle of Aya to my almost-80-year-old grandma because she complained about her own hairfall problem and asked me the recipe of my healthy hair (Believe it or not, she even noticed the difference!)
.....One week later, she thanked me and said that she has experienced the same miracle haha xD Actually hairfall is a very common problem when you're almost 80 years old, but my grandma is a "funky" type and nevertheless still cares about her appearance. She had tried many hairfall-remedies before but none of them worked.
From this experience, I assume that Aya is perfectly safe to use by old people as well! ^__^
More complete review (because some sentences are not enough!):

This product is superb. I have been using it for the past week and I am already seeing an improvement in both my nails and hair is getting thicker. Fantastic product would highly recommend it.

This oil is absolutely FANTASTIC! I have only been using it for a couple of days and I am already seeing the results. It is truly MAGICAL and I will definitely be using this oil as part of my hair-care and nail regimen from now on. Thank you WAWAZA for such a great product!

This was the first time I ordered from WAWAZA and used the Camellia Oil.
It is amazing. I used it on my hair, and body. I have been using Moroccan Oil to tam the frizz on my hair for a while now. I thought it was the best. But this Camillia Oil turned out to be even better to tam the frizz and hydrate the hair than Moroccan Oil. I was surprised! My 2nd shipment is already on its way! Love WAWAZA!

I wanted to use a simple and natural oil to prevent stretch marks during my first pregnancy. I didn't like all the expensive oils available on the market. Some of them are mineral oil based and others have ingredients like essential oils which I sometimes have problems with (allergy). So I used this oil from the 4th month till the end and I have not a single stretch mark on my belly and no problems with my sensitive skin at all. Thank you so much :-) Was a great help for me and simply worked!

I got a sample of this product (thank you!) and really appreciated it as a nice gift. However, I didn't care much about my hair (because I thought hair is not as important as skin) and always tortured it (coloring, hair straightening, etc without proper treatment). I knew that my hair condition was getting worse and before I noticed it, it started to fall miserably...Still, the-once-stubborn me did nothing to save it because I have thick hair so I used to think that I need not worry about being bald someday.
BUT when I used this oil for the first time with nothing to expect...the magic happened...No more hairfall when I combed my hair (NOTICE that it was just my FIRST use). I was very, very surprised and while looking at the mirror with mouth and eyes opened wide due to the shock, I wondered what kind of magical hair oil it was lol.
I've been using this for a few days now and totally satisfied with the result. It gives significant decrease to my hairfall and even the fool me who never treated her hair well could notice that Aya gives a lovely natural shine to my once-dull hair ^^ It also makes me realize that I need to take care more of my hair and not only my skin ~.~
Guess I will buy this awesome product on my next purchase ;D

I bought this oil primarily to use on my hair. I have very dry, coarse and unruly hair and tried lots of different oils like coconut, argan, macadamia... and they all made my hair very oily and sticky.
Camellia oil doesn`t do that, it leaves my hair silky and my hair just drinks it up with no greasy residue. I love it.
Great oil and great service!

Camellia oil has been my favourite oil for quite some time. I've tried a few different brands but have never seen such immediate and lasting effects and this one gives me. My skin looks so much smoother, and nourished.
This gives my hair great shine and smooth wave pattern, plus sooo soft.
Excellent quality and I really like the pump top.

Thank you WAWAZA! This was my first time ordering from you and I am so impressed with the great service and excellent products! The Funori hair cleanser and Aya has to be best kept Japanese secret. My hair definitely feels soft and healthy. Even for styling, I just put a drop of AYA Oil on my hair and I'm done. No more chemicals! Thank you!

I've been using my camellia oil as an all-over body moisturizer because it is my right kind of thick and absorbent. I love how golden the oil is. It makes applying it feel more luxurious and relaxing. Contrary to what you'd expect from an oil, this body oil doesn't feel warm against the body at all.
I also find that using my camellia oil on the hair pre-braiding helps make my hair more manageable. It weighs my hair down, tames the frizz and adds a healthy shine to my sometimes overly dried out hair. Because Wawaza's Camella oil is organic, I don't fear using it on a daily basis. I didn't experience any allergic reaction to it and it didn't irritate my skin or scalp the slightest bit.
