About Dokudami
With its distinct and beautiful heart-shaped leaves and lovely white flowers, dokudami is one of the most highly regarded Japanese traditional herbal remedies.
In Japanese, the word dokudami (ドクダミ) means "poison-block." It is also called jūyaku (十薬), meaning "ten medicines."
Dokudami leaves are listed as a medicinal herb in the Pharmacopoeia of Japan (Nippon Yakkyoku-hō), published by the Japanese government since 1886.
Dokudami leaves are also used to make an herbal tea called Dokudami Cha, traditionally used for ridding the body of harmful toxins.
