About Dokudami
With its distinct and beautiful heart-shaped leaves and lovely white flowers, dokudami is one of the most highly regarded Japanese traditional herbal remedies.
In Japanese, the word dokudami (ドクダミ) means "poison-block." It is also called jūyaku (十薬 ), meaning "ten medicines."
Dokudami leaves are listed as a medicinal herb in the Pharmacopoeia of Japan (Nippon Yakkyoku-hō,) the authoritative record published by the Japanese government since 1886.
Dokudami leaves are also used for making a traditional Japanese herbal tea called Dokudami Cha for ridding the body of harmful toxins.
