About Kimono Silk and Scallop Shells
Japanese women have always used scraps of silk left over from the sewing kimonos to buff and polish skin.
Natural silk is one of the strongest yet smoothest fibers. It mostly consists of proteins called sericin and fibroin, which closely match the chemical structure of human skin.
Scallop shell powder is made from discarded shells of scallops. It is a natural disinfectant which has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.

Excellent
I have been using this sponge for a few days in combination with the yomogi soap and am impressed at how effectively it cleanses without being abrasive.

Not a Gimmick
When I first saw this, I thought it was just a decorative sponge for people who like Japanese prints. But the recycled silk fabric gently exfoliates the skin and makes the skin feel soft. This is very Japanese - subtle and beautiful.

excellent product
This is an excellent product. I use the petite size to make my face soap foam, and then I use it with just water without soap to gently exfoliate. I recommend it, and I love the idea of recycling the kimono silk and giving it a second and such a useful life. The origami crane was a very attentionate gift and well appreciated. Wawaza takes excellent care of its customers, and I love this.

Kimono silk body and face sponge
Everything came quickly from Japan to Switzerland. All was well wrapped and in excellent state. The kind attention of the compliment slip with the Japanese crane origami has been extremely well appreciated. The craft that Japanese makers put in everything is extraordinary. I can't wait to use the sponge. I will reorder for sure. Just unwrapping everything is already a pleasure. Best wishes from Switzerland.

My little pretty friend :)
The silk fabric texture is very particular, I find it excellent especially to complete the exfoliating action of Kirei scrub, passing over lightly this sponge after rinsing the Kirei it makes the skin incredibly even and bright. As well as alone, only with water is a very pleasant touch to feel which invigorates the complexity. And the pattern I got is so bautiful, so dainty, hanged there near the mirror more than only a sponge it seems a decoration for the entire bathroom! :-DD

Very elegant and pretty
The sponge creates very good and creamy lather. And lots of it. The petite size is big enough for daily use I think. The pattern I got was a simple and elegant riverblue with different flowers. It's pretty to look at too. On that topic, when you wash the soap out, it doesn't bleed at all. I guess it's so little that it's not noticeable. So your hands won't be stained with colour, or anything.
