Use Instead of Potato or Corn Starch

Mix about 3 tablespoons with 2 cups of cold water. Whisk mixture while being heated to near boil, and simmer for about two minutes while still whisking.

Use as Alternative to Flour or Cornmeal

Use Kudzu powder to coat fish, beef, pork, poultry or vegetables instead of cornmeal or regular flour.

Kudzu contains a number of powerful antioxidant isoflavonoids, called daidzin, daidzein and puerarin. 

Mixed with hot water and brown sugar or honey, Kudzu powder makes a delicious beverage called "Kuzuyu." It has a thick, syrupy-like easy to drink texture, and is traditionally served as a hot dessert drink. 

In Japan, Kuzuyu is used as a traditional cold remedy, guaranteed to keep you warm and help relieve stuffy noses and sore throats. It is also use for treatment and reducing symptoms of headaches, upset stomach and alcohol hangover.

How to Prepare Kuzuyu

  1. Add about one tablespoon of kuzu root powder and brown sugar or honey (to taste) to a cup of cold water. You can mix in other seasonings such ground ginger or cinnamon if you wish. You can also use soy sauce or even Matcha tea powder.
  2. Mix well with a small whisk.
  3. Heat mixture in pan, while still whisking, for about two minutes or until it becomes translucent.
  4. Enjoy the light and sweet taste of kuzuyu and feel your cold disappear!

    This arrowroot powder as Kuzuyu is extremely enjoyable, relaxing, and soothing for the stomach. Definitely recommend this treat.
