Mulberry leaf tea has long been enjoyed in Japan as a gentle companion to balanced eating and weight-management routines. It is often sipped before or with meals for a sense of lightness and to encourage more mindful dietary habits.

Mulberry leaves contain naturally occurring plant compounds, including DNJ, that have been studied for their role in how the body handles carbohydrates. Because of this, the tea is commonly chosen during periods of dietary adjustment or when supporting healthier mealtime patterns.

  • ❤ Traditionally enjoyed before meals to support appetite awareness and reduce unnecessary snacking
  • ❤ Used in Japan alongside carbohydrate-rich foods as part of mindful eating
  • ❤ Contains plant compounds of interest in nutrition and weight-management research
  • ❤ Offers a light herbal flavor with a subtle, natural sweetness

Our mulberry leaves are wild-harvested, all-natural, and pesticide-free, and are cut in the traditional tanzaku-giri style for optimal brewing.

For everyday use, a cup 20–30 minutes before meals works well. Serve hot or cold.

About DNJ

DNJ, or 1-Deoxynojirimycin, is a naturally occurring compound in mulberry leaves. It's a glucosidase inhibitor (an enzyme blocker), which prevents certain enzymes in the intestines from converting carbs from the food you eat into sugars. As a result, sugar absorption into the bloodstream is slowed down, moderating the increase in blood sugar levels after eating.

This property of DNJ has garnered interest for its potential benefits in managing blood sugar levels, especially for those with type 2 diabetes or those looking to manage their weight.

In simpler terms, DNJ in mulberry leaves can help reduce the rise in blood sugar after a carbohydrate-rich meal.
